Do you think a 9-year old should be able to watch wrestling?

Question: My 9 year old bro wants to watch WWE Smackdown and RAW, due to the influence from his school friends, but my mom gets all crazy when he watches it because of the occassional language, the fake blood sometimes, and the scantily clad women, and the whole mature theme of WWE wrestling.

I don't really see a problem because it's fake anyway, and the language is infrequent, but what are your thoughts?
Answers: As a parent I can understand your moms point.
I think wrestling is a bit too much for a 9 yr old to understand.
It does promote violence and a child doesn't understand that it isn't something you do in real life.
As parents we try to teach our kids that violence doesn't solve anything.
Wait until he is a bit more mature & understands the concept of wrestling.
I think your a great older brother for caring enough to ask this question though.
Ahhhh if it was the 80s wrestling i would say yes.........modern wrestling is a bit different i mean within the last year or two they had a necrophelia (sex with dead people dunno if i spelled it right) storyline. Do you really want your brother to watch that kinda stuff. What about just last 2 mondays or so ago getting women spanked calling them naughty girls? The viloence is fake but to a 9 year old it can be very real. Its your moms call but hey what do i know :)
I think it is alright. My husband is a WWE fan, so we have to watch it every time it is on (lucky for me, he doesn't really like Smack Down, so it is RAW in my household). Yeah sometimes it is a little provocative, but really you don't see/hear anything there that you wouldn't see/hear on any other tv show these days.
No 9 year olds don't really understand that it is all make believe. They don't need the violence, sexism or language models that are completely offensive.
I think 9 is too young
I agree with your mom about her decision. I myself use to watch wrestling back in the 80s it was so much better then it is today. How can you say the occassional cussing last time I flipped past it on Tv thats all I heard and the women are nothing more then fake barbies that are just there for sex appeal. In the 80s there were women but NONE dressed like that. I do understand why your brother wants to watch it though to bad it cant go back to when the Von Eriks, and Andre the Giant were wrestling that was entertainment!
if its k fed vs john cena no anything else no
I don't even let my 12 year old watch it, so no I don't think a 9 year old should either.
I grew up watching wrestling with my father. I used to think that it was real the way the guys would head butt each other and smash heads into the turnbuckles, etc. One time my father took me to a live wrestling match and he took me to the back where all the wrestlers were sitting at a table playing cards. When it was their turn to wrestle, they entered the ring, did their thing and went back to playing cards.
I have an autograph from Rufus R. Jones. He was my fav wrestler way back then and no one could head butt like him. He died but I enjoyed meeting him and watching him on TV.
I am a woman and I would let my 5 year old son watch it. I don't see anything wrong with letting them watch wrestling - it's cool guy thing to watch, like sports. I just tell my son that a lot of it's fake and for show.
