Besides the legal side, would it be bad for a 17 year old to date a 31 year old?
Answers: age is only a number yes but there is a draw line that i wouldnt personally go over at your age now people see it as a problem but as you get older they dont but you are the only judgement on that at the end of the day people can give there advice or opinions but its up to you weather you take it or not.

I think it would be a bad thing. Normally guys who would date someone that much younger are just in it for sex. If you do decied to date him, try making him wait a few months before sex and see if he sticks around.

YES!!! they have nothing in common, a 31 yo can go anywhere to meet someone including a bar. He or She has matured way past the age of child and is a full blown adult. and 17 year old is just coming out of child hood. is still imature and doesnt yet understand the way the world is, no matter how much they think they do. a 31 and 17 year olds brains are on different levels of maturity, even if the 17 year old is mature for his/her age. the relationship is sick and the 31 year old should be shot for even thinking about it. the 31 year old doesnt have good intentions and most likely has some mental problems they are dealing with that the 17 year old has no clue about.

generally i would sasy yes because at 17.. although you may think of youself as having' street smarts' or being mature or whatever, your life experiances are limited at this young age. I mean you may be aware of things but there's a difference between knowing things and experiencing them first hand. a 31- yr old has had alot of life experiences.
In most cases relationships with that large an age difference is usually difficult and fails due to difference in thinking between the 2 parties as they are at different points in their lives. Also you may find the older party treating the younger one in a 'childish' manner so that may cause friction.
alot of older men in those cases are in fact going through a mid-life crisis and are attempting to cling to their youth and boost their self esteem by gaining the affection of a young girl. Just be careful.. more than likely to get hurt in this situation
Depends on his motivation. Most (but not all) men that age or older who are interested in much younger women are only after their bodies. Be careful, because men, especially players, will tell you anything to get you in bed. I'm not going to tell you not to date him, just to be careful about it so you don't get your feelings really hurt.
I'd seriously question the morality of that 31 year old. It is quite easy for a young person to be seduced by the idea of dating an older person. I would say that post 21 years you could make a mature decision on who to date. However, 17 years is a definite no. Though, not illegal I might add.
