Why do people lie? Some one who lies just to lie?
Question: My ex refuses to pay child support. Yet he goes around telling everyone that he is broke because of all the money he pays in child support. That really irks me. He tells my sons that he can't take them any where because he is broke because of all the money he is supposedly sending me for support. He is such a loser. It is really hard to not want to defend yourself when someone is lying about you all the time. He doesn't just lie about child support he lies about all most every facit of his life. I have gone to the prosecutor over the support. But that takes time. I just don't understand why people lie.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I cant stand when people lie. Maybe they think it makes them look better. Most of them cant keep their lies straight...so they just end up looking stupid!!

My cousin lied non stop. I think it's a sickness. I had another cousin (guy) who lied all the time, would look you in the face and lie when you knew good and well he was lying! Well, he went to the Dr. over it and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder...that was causing him to lie.
Sounds like your EX wants sympathy though.
My whole last marriage was based on lies, told by my EX-WIFE. That's all she knows. I didn't realize it until we had been together for a while and she was pregnant. Now she is gone, which I am glad for. And I have custody of our son. She practically lied about every aspect of her life and still does, even though we have been divorced for several months. I don't care if she lies anymore, except she has weekend visits with our son and I feel that she may lie to him and break his little heart.
In your case, you can't make his tell the truth. The best thing you can do is tell your kids that he does lie but that they shouldn't hate him for it. Honestly, that is the best for the kids right now. As they get older, they will find out on their own what kind of a person he really is. My son will find out what kind of a person his mother is and he will not be happy with her. Good luck with it all.

I would like to suggest that you go down to the District Attorney's Office Child Support Division in your town and put that *** on child support. Trust me when the DA's office starts taking it out of his check before he even gets it he will stop all of that lying.
He will be singing another tune. It's a shame you have to force someone to take care of their respomsibily like that. Once the DA is involved he will get a case of act nice. He'll try to get you to take him off by saying you would be getting more if the man wasn't in his pockets.
Do not fall for it. Make his sorry *** support your child till he finishes College. I've been there. I fell for it. Took him off, meaning I signed an affidavid stating I did not want the DA's office to persue the collections of my child support order. This was in 2000.
I gave him a break. He did good for a minute, then he left the state came back and is MIA. So the last text message I sent him was I will be going to DA's office on 02/17/06 to re-open my case. Because I had a standing order he should've been paying me directly what was ordered, since he chose not too, he is currently owing my 17 yr old daughter over $ 35,000 in arrears.
He thought he would be done when she turned 18, I got news for the ***, he will be paying til my children's chidren graduate from high school. lmao.
He and my ex husband must be friends.
tMy ex-wives were all liars. I got custody of my daughter from the first and of course she was not required to pay child support so that was the end of that. The other answers were really good as far what you can do to try and get the money. As far as the lying you really can't do anything to stop it, but you can make sure the kids aren't swayed by it. Stay close to the situation and watch for signs that they are being given false information. If this is the case provide them with the correct information without beating up too much on the ex. <---for the kids
