Do you think its odd when people say that they love their spouses more than their parents?
Question: I mean aren't they different kinds of love? Since when are they in the same category?
Answers: Obviously a different form of Love. It is kind of odd for people to say that. I've never heard this myself, I would have to say it's very strange. Next time you hear somone say that, ask them what it means. LUCK TO YOU!
to me yes but everyone is different.
I agree with you. I can't and even if I could, I would never tell my bf/hubby: i love you more than my mom because that would not be fair/true. I don't love my mom the way I love my man! and it wouldnt be fair for him to say:sorry honey but i love my daddy more than i love you, doesnt matter if he is dead now... so, NO, is risky to say something like that, I dont want to hurt anyone's feelings :)
I was watching the last part of the show Survivor last night and two of the men where debating this same question. The married man said that the love for his wife could not be compared to the single man's love for his mother. That is was much stronger. And merited more importance in a reward visit.
We love each of them (parents and spouses) differently. I think the only reason we feel more need for our spouses is that they are the family with whom we are living with now. They make up our day to day. Because of this, we must sometimes consider their opinions on decisions in our lives that might have been previously been consulted on with our parents. Many times our parents opinions are overruled because of this. Such is life.
I don't think that is odd at all. I love my parents but I don't NEED them. I love my husband and I NEED him.
